Tony Gambitsis FCA

Fellow Chartered Accountant and Director

Tony Gambitsis brings 40 years of Chartered Accountancy experience to GCOL, combining deep technical knowledge with a practical, relationship-focused approach to helping clients achieve their goals.

A proud Lower Hutt local, Tony graduated from Victoria University of Wellington before beginning his accounting career with Deloitte. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1986 and, in 1989, joined his father at Gambitsis Partners. Over the decades that followed, Tony played a key role in developing and modernising the practice into the GCOL of today.

Tony’s approach has always been centred on people. He believes the best advice comes from truly understanding each client’s business, ambitions and long-term objectives. Known for his approachable style and commercial perspective, Tony works closely with clients to provide practical, strategic advice that supports confident decision-making and sustainable growth.

He has particular expertise and interest in property, business development and strategic advisory, and enjoys working alongside business owners and investors as they navigate opportunities, challenges and major financial decisions.

In 2024, Tony was elevated to Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) by Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, recognising his contribution to the profession, his leadership and his longstanding commitment to high professional standards. In 2026, Tony marks 40 years as a Chartered Accountant—a significant milestone that reflects both the depth of his experience and his enduring commitment to clients and the profession.

Beyond GCOL, Tony has long been active in the Lower Hutt community. He has served in a range of community and governance roles, including as President of the Mitchell Park Squash Club, and has contributed his time to organisations including the RSA Poppy Trust.

Outside the office, Tony enjoys mountain biking, squash, music and supporting the Hurricanes and Wellington rugby teams. With three adult children now living around the world, he also values time with family whenever the opportunity arises.

Tony combines four decades of experience with a modern, practical outlook—bringing trusted advice, commercial insight and genuine commitment to every client relationship.
